A Pine Bluff man was beaten and shot in the early morning hours of Monday, June 30, and police are asking for help in locating the people responsible.

Officer Richard Wegner said in a press release that Andrew Lawson, 26, received gunshot wounds to his hand and leg, a broken leg and a skull fracture. He was taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center, where he was treated for the injuries.

Lawson had gone to McDonalds’s at 2819 S. Olive St. shortly after 1 a.m. to ride his skateboard when a tan SUV pulled up and he was forced to get inside, according to the press release. The SUV was occupied by at least three people when a fight began and the driver stopped behind Head Hunters Barber Shop at 3209 S. Main St.

Security video from the business showed that the fight spilled out of the vehicle and continued outside. During the fight, Lawson was shot twice and struck in the head with the gun several times. After the suspects got back into the vehicle, Lawson was limping away on foot when he was rammed by the vehicle.

Wegner said in the press release that Lawson was able to make his way to a nearby house where help was summoned.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the detective division at 730-2090 or the dispatch center at 541-5300. All calls will be kept confidential.
