Pine Bluff police are asking for help in identifying the person who attempted to break into a house on the west side of the city Tuesday morning.

According to Officer Richard Wegner, an unknown black male drove up in a dark blue four-door Chevrolet Malibu at about 10:22 a.m. After exiting the car, he began looking into windows, then went to the area of the front door before an alarm sounded. The suspect then fled the scene.

Wegner said that when the first officers arrived, they found the front door had been damaged and was open. The homeowner reported that nothing appeared to have been taken with only the damage to the door.

According to the press release, the home was equipped with a surveillance system that captured the suspect and vehicle. It is believed the car was displaying temporary tags when this occurred.

The photos provided by the police department are stills from the surveillance system, and the system’s clock had not been updated for Daylight Saving Time so the time stamps are an hour behind.

Wegner said the address and identity of the homeowner are being withheld at the victim’s request.

Anyone with information about the incident should contact the Detective Division at 730-2090 or the dispatch center at 541-5300. All calls will be kept confidential.
