An investigation into an alleged employee theft at Sears in the Pines Mall resulted in the arrest of two men Thursday.

Jeromeo Cobbs Jr., 24, and Gregory Dunbar, 34, were taken into custody after police were contacted by store security personnel, Detective Cassandra McAfee said in a probable cause affidavit that was presented in court Friday.

Deputy Prosecutor Maxie Kizer said an inventory indicated that items were missing that had not been sold to customers and and that store security video showed Cobbs and Dunbar taking items from the store.

According to the affidavit, the value of the missing items was listed as more than $3,000.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set a $5,000 bond each for Cobbs and Dunbar after ruling that prosecutors had probable cause to charge them with theft of property.

Cobbs and Dunbar both said they would hire their own attorneys.
