Two people were taken by ambulance to the hospital after a two-vehicle accident in which one of the vehicles rolled over on its side Tuesday afternoon in downtown Pine Bluff.

Police at the scene said that two people were taken by ambulance from a white GMC passenger van that was on its driver’s side in the middle of Main Street with its front window broken out. The woman in the other car — a black Toyota Camry — sustained glass cuts but had declined ambulance transport. The Camry had extensive front-end damage and the airbags inside had been deployed.

Police were still investigating the accident Tuesday afternoon and did not have names of those injured.

The accident occurred at about 2:15 p.m. Tuesday at the south end of the intersection of 6th Avenue and Main Street. The initial emergency call described it as a head-on accident. Debris was scattered across the roadway and police had parts of the intersection closed and were directing traffic around the accident.
