Lisa Gail Newby-Wolfe, 59, of White Hall, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord on May 13, 2018. She was born March 25, 1959, in Pine Bluff, to Tom and Thelma Lenox Newby.

She had worked for Southern Pacific Railroad as a clerk, at Lowe's as a receiving Manager & later at JRMC Wellness Center. She was a Christian and enjoyed riding her motorcycle. She was preceded in death by her father, Tom Newby.

Survivors include her mother, Thelma Newby of White Hall; sister, Vicki Smith of White Hall; brothers, Mike Newby (Lisa) of Pine Bluff, Pat Newby (Debbie) of White Hall and her significant other, Kim “Mad Dog” Massey of White Hall; several nieces and nephews and the latest being Lennox Elizabeth Allen.

Willie Vernell Terry, 72, of Little Rock, AR, departed this life May 14, 2018. He was preceded in death by: sister, Netter Jean Terry; mother, Thelma Thompson; brother, John Terry Jr.; father, John Terry Sr.; wife, Vivian Terry.

Mrs. Birtha J. Glover, 91, of Pine Bluff, AR passed Saturday, May 12, 2018.

Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Friday, May 18, 2018, at Brown Funeral Home in Pine Bluff, AR by Rev. Freddie L. Webb. Interment will be in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery in Hooker, AR. Visitation will be Thursday, 5-7 p.m., at Brown Funeral Home.

Margaret Lowery

Margaret Lowery, 92 of the Glendale community, passed away, Tuesday, May 15, 2018. Born March 19, 1926, at Pine Bluff, she was a daughter of the late John Law and Mary Ann Reed Law.

Mrs. Lowery was a homemaker and a member of White Hall First Assembly where she taught Sunday school for several years. She enjoyed fishing, working in her flower beds and spoiling grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband Robert Lowery; and five siblings, John, Charles, George, Harold and Beatrice.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Evans and husband Thomas; brother, James “Jim” Law, sisters, Gladys Garman and Gertie Hogan; three grandchildren, Phillip Herren, Kari Sanderson and Roxie Ashmore, four great-grandchildren, Clarissa, Sterling, Dylan and Anthony; five great-great-grandchildren and many other loving family and friends.

The family would like to send a special thanks to Hospice Angels and to her caregiver, Bobbi. Funeral services will be Friday, May 18, 10:00 a.m., at Fuller Hale South Funeral Chapel with Brother Dean Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow in Hardin Cemetery. Rita Phillips

Rita F. Nuckols Phillips, 71, of Pine Bluff passed away May 14th, 2018. She was born May 7, 1947, in Wendell, Idaho, the daughter of the late Fred and Flora Nuckols. She was a 1965 graduate of Star City High School, and Pines VO-TECH School in 1968.

Rita was a member of Watson Chapel Baptist Church, and the ladies adult six class. She was a bookkeeper for American Chemical until retirement in 2005. Rita's main interests were: Wife, Mother, GRANDMOTHER of five. Her hobbies included chasing her grandchildren to baseball, football, wrestling, robotics, and school events. She also enjoyed traveling, camping, and fishing on Lake Ouachita with family, friends, and her dogs.

Also preceding her in death were her sister Vicky Nuckols Laster; and birth father Waldo Petty.

Survivors include her husband of almost 50 years William T. “Bill” Phillips; daughters Mindy L. Howard (Joe), Mary Anne Shipstead (Rian); grandchildren Joshua and Sharon Howard, Christopher, Thomas, and Phillip Shipstead, and her “New Mexico grandson” Gabe Smith; brother Clyde Greggs; sisters Lorenda Hall, Virginia Tipton, Dorothy Gregg; and birth mother Kathryn Petty Fletcher.

Sada Varnell

Sada Lee “Sadie” Posey Varnell, 91, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, peacefully went with the Angels to meet her Heavenly Father, Monday, May 14, 2018, at her daughter's home. She celebrated her last Mother's Day surrounded by family and friends before her heavenly homecoming.

Sadie was born in North Little Rock, Arkansas, on November 24, 1926, and lived there with her parents Carroll Amos and Angie Lee Posey and her three siblings.

In 1945, Sadie met and married Clause Ira Varnell. She was a devoted wife, mother and caregiver. She cared for many children and influenced their lives with her motherly hugs and encouraging spirit. She was a servant of God and devout to the Nazarene Faith. In her younger years, she served her church in many capacities, including Sunday School teacher, VBS teacher and choir director. She took great pride in her community and neighborhood.

Sadie loved her family and friends and enjoyed making baked goods for them. Her specialties were millionaires, sugar cookies, chocolate covered pretzels and divinity. She loved music and passed along her musical talent to her great-granddaughter, Peyton. She also organized the Dollarway Neighborhood Watch and was an Honorary member of the Citizen Police Academy Alumni.

She entered the heavenly gates to be greeted by her parents, her husband, her daughter, Gloria “Dianne” Varnell, an infant son, Claude Ira Varnell, Jr., her sister, Pauline Posey Kinsey, her two brothers, J. W. Posey and Carroll Posey.

She is survived by her daughter, Angela Varnell Greenwood of Hensley, grandson, Brooks “Landon” Greenwood and his wife, Allison, of North Little Rock, great-granddaughter, Peyton and great-grandsons, Brantley and Hudson. She cherished special relationships with nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

Sadie loved her family and had a contagious zest for life. She was an avid gardener, a devout Christian, a wonderful cook, a committed caregiver and encourager to all who were blessed to know her and a talented musician who loved to sing and play the piano.

We would like to offer our heartfelt thanks to the dedicated healthcare teams of St. Vincent's Hospital and Rehab, Kindred Home Health, and Arkansas Hospice, as well as her close friends and neighbors from Pine Bluff who brightened her last days with their constant love and support.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 18, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. with the funeral services immediately following at 2:00 p.m. at Ralph Robinson and Son, 807 South Cherry Street, Pine Bluff, AR 71601.
