WHITE HALL — Leslie Raymond "Les" Edwards, 90 of White Hall passed away Wednesday, February 26,2014 at his home. He was born July 27, 1923 in Rye, Ark. to the late Garfield and Oma Curry Edwards. He attended schools in Cleveland County and also served in the CCC for two years. Les later joined the United States Navy and served in World War II. After returning from the Navy, Les went to work at the Pine Bluff Arsenal and worked as a general foreman in the production division. He retired from the Arsenal in 1974 and joined the White Hall School District and was over the maintenance for over twenty years. Les was a member of Bethany Baptist Church where he was a past Sunday School Superintendent. He was a charter member of the American Legion White Hall Post #232 and a member of the Jacob Brump Lodge #160. He was a member of the first White Hall Planning Commission and also did much volunteer work for the community. Les was an avid fisherman, golfer, love gardening, and enjoyed umpiring softball and baseball.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bertha Doss Edwards; brother, Joe Edwards.


He is survived by four sons, Steve (Randa) Edwards, Mike Edwards, David (Pam) Edwards, Ricky (Heather) Edwards; two daughters, Sharon (Gregg) Terry, and Lori (Pat) Edwards Copeland; two brothers, James and Billy Edwards; sister, Jean Bagwell; fifteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and his longtime companion, Tippy.


Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Cranford Funeral Home of White Hall with Reverend Jonathan Witcher officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Bethany Baptist Church Senior Citizens Department. A special thanks goes out to his caregivers, Mika Edwards, Brenda Brown, Andrea Taylor, and the Hospice Angels.
