Editor, The Commercial:

Hundreds of hours of woman and man power went into making the Salvation Army Auxiliary’s Christmas Luncheon and Festival of Tables a success.

Led by an energetic and dedicated membership, the auxiliary was joined by dozens of community volunteers who did everything from set up tables and chairs, create tablescapes, donate silent auction items and door prizes and prepare food for the luncheon.

Some volunteers were called upon at the late minutes to come to the aid of the auxiliary – Kadarius Knapper, Jalen Mauldin and DeMarcus Seals, all of the Golden Royalty service club; Jarus Marshall and Kwantaveous Curry of the Viking Bi Fidelity Society Inc.; Robert “Bo” Stewart of the Pine Bluff First Assembly Band of Brothers; and LaQuisha Robinson, a University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff student.

The Jenkins Choir entertained with the glorious sounds of Christmas music and an enthusiasm that garnered them a standing ovation. And the staff of the First United Methodist Church, where the event was held, helped in a myriad of ways that ensured that the event went off without a hitch.

But without the guests who bought tickets (more than 350 were sold) and attended, it would have been for naught.

The proceeds are used to purchase Christmas gifts for children and senior adults, provide camp scholarships for local youngsters to the Salvation Army Heart O’ Hills Camp and Conference Center at Welling, OK, near Tahlequah, and to support other local Salvation Army projects.

The auxiliary is grateful to all those who helped and attended, making this another successful event. Please mark your calendars for the first Friday in December for the next edition.

Again, many thanks for your support and wishes for a happy and healthy new year.
