The annual June picnic meeting of Bluff City American Business Womenís Association was held recently at the home of Maxine Malone.

The tables were decorated in red and white checked cloths made by Malone and watermelon-themed accessories.

Donna Davis prepared the picnic food of chicken salad, green bean salad, deviled eggs, watermelon, and BLT vegetable dip and served it from watermelon decorated dishes. Dessert consisted of chocolate fudge cake topped by watermelon sherbet.

The June picnic was designated as the time to honor the 2012 Woman of the Year, Edwina Riddle. Patsy Stroud, 2011 Woman of the Year, started the roast by reminding Riddle that she always served banana bread at the board meetings and for two years she didnít realize that Stroud doesnít like banana, so she presented Riddle with bananas and banana muffins as well at the Woman of the Year trophy. Janelle Thomason, another past Woman of The Year, finished up with funny remembrances of Riddle and laughs were shared by all over the various escapades of Riddle.

Also honored was the 2012 scholarship winner, Hannah Whitener, and her mother, Penny. This is the fourth year to sponsor Hannah, who is in nursing school at Arkansas Tech in Russellville with a 3.6 grade point average.

The original charter president Janice Hicks was visiting from Fayetteville for the occasion. Riddle reminded the group that new officer installation would be at the July meeting. The 2012-13 officers are president Janelle Thomason; vice president, Diane Bradshaw; secretary, Mary Ann Grimes; and treasurer, Davis.
