Downtown Pine Bluff will come alive with the blues when the Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas, 701 Main St., hosts its monthly music series, Live@5, from 5-7 p.m. July 6.

Bluesman Detroit Johnnie will perform. Johnnie got his nickname from his hometown city, Detroit. Influenced by Elmore James, Muddy Waters and B.B. King, Detroit was 11 when he began performing with Nighthawk’s band. His musical mentors include Live@5 favorite, Milt Jackson. Johnnie performs throughout the region and spends his winters in Michigan.

Live@5, which is sponsored by M.K. Distributors, has been offering live jazz, blues, rock and roll, and country performances for more than six years on the first Friday of each month at ASC. Cost of the evening is $5 for members and $10 for non-members.

The center is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, and is closed on Sunday. For more information, contact the center at 870-536-3375, info@artssciencecenter.org or visit the website at www.ArtsScienceCenter.org.
