The name “Greek Gala” was inclusive of all Greek fraternities and sororities in the community. Since those fraternal organizations worked diligently throughout the year supporting communal events and projects, the idea of a gala offered the opportunity to get together, relax, dress up/down and socialize.

This year’s event will be held today from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Sahara Shrine Center, 820 S. Main St.

Each year, new and different ideas are sought to encourage the participation from both the fraternal organizations and all concerned citizens. This year’s theme is “It’s a Luau.” The focus is on a casual relaxed party including fun and entertainment catering to the young and the young at heart.

Tickets are available for $25 each. For tickets contact Alvin Davis Jr. at 546-9569 or Jerilean Brewer at 489-5124.

Archie Sanders is the president of the graduate chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and Cynthia Bennett is the president of the graduate chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.
