The Pine Bluff Community Band and Pine Bluff Musical Coterie will sponsor a patriotic music event entitled, “I Love This Land,” at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church, 6501 S. Hazel St.
The vocals for this musical will be sung by the 100-voice chorus made of singers from southeast and central Arkansas, featuring Pine Bluff’s Matt Soto as soloist. It will be accompanied by the Pine Bluff Community Band and Adam Savacool, organist/pianist. Special band selections include marches by John Philip Sousa; “Grace Praeludium” honoring the memory of Dr. W. Francis McBeth, accomplished Arkansas arranger and conductor; and crowd favorites “Tuxedo Junction” and “Bugler’s Holiday.”
This program is dedicated to all veterans and current enlisted military personnel. Each branch of the U.S. military will be recognized as their respected songs are sung.
“We can never thank our men and women enough for serving our country in this capacity,” said Jerry Williams, Community Band director. “This event is a great way for all of us to say thanks once again for a job well done.”
A special flag display of all military branches including flags from each war fought by the United States will be in the foyer of the church for this program sponsored by Area Agency On Aging of Southeast Arkansas.
The public is invited to attend.
