Charles Perkins of Pine Bluff will retire today, bringing to an end 46 years of service to the United States Postal Service.

Charles Perkins of Pine Bluff will retire today, bringing to an end 46 years of service to the United States Postal Service.

Perkins graduated from AM&N College, now the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. He taught math and science for one year at Hermitage High School, before beginning his career on July 17, 1965, with the Postal Service.

He is a member of New Direction Baptist Church, where he has served as a deacon for many years. He and his wife, Joyce, have been married for 29 years and have three children and six grandchildren.

A retirement potluck in his honor will be held today at the main post office branch in downtown Pine Bluff.
