A beautiful outdoor wedding was held March 16, 2013, at two in the afternoon at the Staton's residence for the renewal of vows for their daughter, Gwendolyn "Torey" Staton Jallow and Cherno Jallow, with family friend and state Rep. Mike Holcomb officiating.
A beautiful outdoor wedding was held March 16, 2013, at two in the afternoon at the Staton’s residence for the renewal of vows for their daughter, Gwendolyn “Torey” Staton Jallow and Cherno Jallow, with family friend and state Rep. Mike Holcomb officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Ray and Regina Staton of Pine Bluff, Ark., and the granddaughter of Gwendolyn Peed and the late Hollis Reed of Pine Bluff, Ark., and the late Vernell Staton of Star City, Ark.
The groom is the son of Mam Satou Sowe Jallow and the late Modou A Jallow of Banjul, Gambian in West Africa.
The bride arrived in a horse drawn white carriage. She was escorted down the aisle by her father and given away by her parents. The bride’s father presented his daughter a handkerchief that belonged to her late grandfather, Hollis Reed, which he had monogrammed in blue “From the moment they placed you in my arms, you snuggled right into my heart”.
The bride wore a white satin ball gown with beaded lace applique and tulle underlay with a chapel train. She wore an heirloom, mother of pearl necklace and matching earrings belonging to her grandmother Reed, “Benmoie” and carried a bouquet of white callie lilies and tiger lilies adorned with rhinestone accents.
Lifelong friend, Jessica Womble, Pine Bluff, Ark., and close friend, Michelle Tater, Sherwood Ark., were the maids of honor, both wearing a long green chiffon one shoulder gown and carrying long stem white callie lilies.
The best man was the bride’s father, Ray Staton, Pine Bluff, and the groomsmen was Jared Womble, Searcy, Ark., wearing grey tuxes and tiger lilies for boutonnieres.
Cousins of the bride, Ezra Tole and Ben Wadley, both of Pine Bluff, were the ushers. The ring bearer, Rhys Rochelle, escorted the bride’s pet Boxer, “Della”, and the flower girl, Sophie Rochelle, escorted the bride’s pet Chihuahua, “Torie”, all of Pine Bluff, Ark.
The reception was held under a tent with entertainment provided by a disc jockey from Central Arkansas Entertainment. A buffet of food and fruits were served and catered by Touch of Elegance. Cousins of the bride, Gwendolyn “Wendi” Rochelle and Hillary Livingston, both of Pine Bluff, Ark., served the wedding and groom’s cake.
After a honeymoon trip to Wakiki, Hawaii the couple will reside in Pine Bluff, Ark.
The couple was given a bridal shower, which was hosted by Sherry Glover and Jessica Womble.
