The 34th Avenue Elementary School surpassed its goal and had three classes to have 100 percent participation in raising money for The Commercial Christmas Card Fund. The fund is used to help children in need in area schools.

As a Leader In Me school, 34th Avenue students and staff infuse the school day with leadership traits from national consultant Franklin Covey’s “Seven Habits of Highly Effective People,” a spokesman said.

Students and staff demonstrated the trait of Think Win-Win by participating in the Christmas Card Fund.

The three classes to have 100 percent participation are Jenny Tucker’s first-grade class better known as the “Apple Dumpling Gang,” Shirley Hunter’s second-grade class, known as “Hunter’s Heroes” and Francis Ray’s third-grade class. These classes received a certificate acknowledging their achievement.
