The Interested Citizens for Voter Registration, Inc. (ICVR) Nonviolence Initiative will reward the Altheimer-Martin Elementary School with a pizza party on Monday at 2 p.m. for good behavior.

Students ages 4 to 11 years were asked to be committed to no bullying or fighting between October and December. According to school counselor Shirley Breedlove, they succeeded.

During the Red Ribbon Anti-Drug Week, the 118 students at Altheimer-Martin were challenged not to bully or fight.

“Today, we are very proud of these students for meeting our challenge and happy to provide them a pizza party for their good behavior,” Cynthia T. Whitmore, ICVR board member, said.

ICVR’s Nonviolence Initiative plans to target schools to reward students for good behavior with a day of skating, popcorn parties, social mixers, and movie passes. The goal is to offer incentives for neat dress, good attitudes, behavior and academics, said Rev. Jesse C. Turner, ICVR executive director. Details: Call 536-7274.
