The rededication of the Chester Hynes Community Center, 2101 W. 11th Ave., is scheduled for 4 p.m.

A new wooden basketball floor was installed in the gymnasium area, new commercial vinyl tile (CVT) was installed throughout the building and a comprehensive renovation of the entire building was done for approximately $150,000. This facility was completed to service the children of this community, as well as Head Start families, a spokesman said.

Alderman Irene Holcomb, senior council member of the Pine Bluff City Council, expressed an interest

and recognized the need to update the center several years ago.

“Through the assistance of Mayor Carl A. Redus Jr. and the city council, funding was made

available to the Parks and Recreation Commission for much needed updates,” the spokesman said.
