The South Arkansas Continuum of Care, which works to end homelessness in Arkansas, will participate in the 2012 Point-in-Time Count of Homeless Individuals and Families and the Housing Inventory Count.

The project will include actual counts of homeless people in shelters and transitional housing programs as well as the unsheltered who may be living on the streets in Pine Bluff and South Arkansas.

The count of homeless people will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday and end at 6 a.m. Friday. Questionnaires have been provided for emergency shelter providers or others who help homeless people, according to LaJuan Roaf, chairperson of the Point-In-Time Count.

The count is a part of a national effort, according to Donald Sampson, director of the city’s
