The ICVR Weed and Seed Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Center is seeking volunteers for the 2012 tax season.

The ICVR Weed and Seed Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Center is seeking volunteers for the 2012 tax season.

The VITA Center prepares and files electronic income taxes free for low to moderate income families. During the last tax filing season, ICVR Weed and Seed prepared more than 160 taxe returns for people, including disabled persons.

As a result, the center returned more than $70,000 back into the community. The VITA volunteer invitation is extended to accounting clubs, businesses, financial institutions, retired persons, churches, civic and social clubs, athletic teams or other groups. Volunteers are trained and certified by the Internal Revenue Service.

Potential volunteers are invited to attend a meeting about wealth building Dec. 14 at noon in the ICVR Weed and Seed offfice, 2315 S. Olive St.
