A Pine Bluff School District teacher will be among 12 economics educators to be honored.

Shelina Warren of Jack Robey Junior High School will be among honorees recognized for outstanding teaching at the 17th annual Bessie B. Moore Awards Program.

Hosted by Economics Arkansas, the event is scheduled for Nov. 8 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Great Hall of the Clinton Presidential Center in Little Rock.

Ray Simon, former deputy secretary for the U.S. Department of Education, will deliver the keynote address. Arkansas Department of Education Commissioner Tom Kimbrell and EA board members will also attend.

The Bessie B. Moore Awards Program offers cash awards and statewide recognition to stimulate creativity and innovation in economic education teaching practices. This year’s winners will receive $1,000 each and an inscribed acrylic.
