The Jefferson County Health Unit will sponsor a mass flu clinic and clinics at area schools.

People at risks for the flu, including pregnant women, are encouraged to get a seasonal flu shot. Shots are also provided at the health department, which is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Mass Flu Clinic

The department will host the Mass Flu Clinic Nov. 2 at the Pine Bluff Convention Center from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. On this day, persons receiving the flu shot will not have any out of pocket expense, a spokesman said.

School clinics

The Jefferson County health department in conjunction with school districts in Jefferson County will

be providing seasonal flu vaccine to school children. If you have insurance, the health department will ask your insurance company to pay for the cost of giving the vaccine. If you don’t have insurance or your insurance company doesn’t pay, the vaccine will be no charge to you, according to Quranner “Q” Cotledge, Jefferson County health department administrator.
