Several Pine Bluff High School FCCLA Chapter members won awards in the District IV STAR Events competition recently.

The Family Career and Community Leaders of America members will also compete in the state competition March 1 in Conway.

STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) Events are competitive activities in which members are recognized for proficiency and achievement in chapter and individual projects, leadership skills and career preparation.

In the Early Child Event, Tedra Demery received a perfect score (100) Gold star rating and was first place overall district event winner. Raven James was the student evaluator for this event.

In the Chapter Community Service Event, Darrius Ramsey and Breashia Lambert received a gold star rating and were first place overall district event winners.

Lashommonique Bass and LeCreesha Thomas received a silver star and were first place overall district winners in the Chapter Showcase Event.

Dassia Mays and Jessica Burnett served as room consultants and Courtnie Johnson served as an event coach.

The students attended the STAR events Dec. 7 along with advisers Myra Hardy and Linda Callaway.
