The City of Pine Bluff Transit Department invites the public to ride the buses free for a week.

During “Try Transit Week,” the agency will offer free bus rides to all residents of Pine Bluff during the week of Dec. 18-24.

“The new initiative has several obvious objectives,” said Larry Reynolds, director of Pine Bluff Transit. “First, it is to familiarize more citizens with the new city buses that were recently added to the Pine Bluff Transit fleet. Secondly, the cost-savings and convenience associated with riding public transportation are both beneficial factors for our community.”

Pine Bluff Mayor Carl A. Redus Jr. stated the program is a good idea for the holidays since residents have an opportunity to ride free of charge to their destinations during the week.

“Also, it will have a tremendous economic impact on businesses as more shoppers have access to local retailers as they make their Christmas purchases,” he said.

The buses are scheduled to run their regular routes beginning at 6 a.m. daily. Details: Call 543- 5130.
