The volunteer fire departments in Jefferson County are offering free smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors to all residents.

“With fire safety week coming up on Oct. 7-13, our goal is to have one in every home to ensure all of our residents in the county are protected,” said Eddie Anderson, president of the Jefferson County Mutual Aid Association. “If the residents will notify their local fire department, they will come out and install smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors absolutely free.”
