Bethany Chapel Baptist Church, 1923 S. Olive St., will host the 2012 Service of Honor at 3 p.m. Sunday to recognize community leaders.

“The service is not a political event, but rather an effort to recognize and celebrate those members of our community, who in spite of all our differences, make constant sacrifices to restore and improve the City of Pine Bluff,” a spokesman said.

The program will include a keynote address from Bethany Chapel’s pastor, Rev. Renice Davis; words of encouragement from Charlotte Williams, a professor at the Bill Clinton School of Public Service; and a unity prayer by Rev. Kerry Price, pastor of the Breath of Life Church.

Honorees include Lafayette Woods Jr., LouAnn Nesbitt, Monica Gaynor, Annette Dove, Milton Jenkins, Charles Bruce, Brenda Davis-Jones, Delton Wright, Glen Brown, Steven Mays, Thelma Walker, Loretta Whitfield, Ivan Whitfield, Ronald Moragne, Virginia Hymes, Barbara Clay, Clifford Flowers, Angela Flowers, Simmie Armstrong, David Jacks, Manuel Kelly, Kenneth Lambert, Eugene Hunt, Stephanie Flowers and Debe Hollingsworth.

A reception will be held after the service in the fellowship hall. The community is invited.
