Jury selection continued Tuesday in the capital murder trial of a Pulaski County man accused of killing another man while both were prisoners in the Arkansas Department of Correction.

Charles V. Moorman, 61, is accused in the death of Eddie Smith Jr., who was stabbed at the laundry room of the Maximum Security Unit at Tucker on Sept. 2, 2010.

Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for Moorman, who at the time of the slaying was serving life in prison without the possibility of parole after being convicted of three counts of capital murder in Pulaski County in 1981. He had previously been convicted of first-degree murder and aggravated robbery, also in Pulaski County.

Smith was serving a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole after being convicted of capital murder and kidnapping in Arkansas County.

Circuit Judge Jodi Raines Dennis is presiding over the trial, which is scheduled to last until Friday.
