The body of a man who was hit by a train and died Tuesday night has been sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office at Little Rock for an autopsy.

Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelley identified the man as Kenneth Earl Johnson, 28, who was pronounced dead at 10:24 p.m. by Deputy Coroner John Lawson.

Kelley said the cause of death was listed as multiple blunt force trauma.

Johnson was hit by a train at the railroad crossing at West 17th Avenue and Miramar Street and according to radio traffic Tuesday night, railroad personnel on the train contacted emergency dispatchers to report they thought they had hit a person who was on the track.

A police report on the incident had not been completed Wednesday and a call to a spokeswoman for Union Pacific Railroad, Raquel Espinoza, was not immediately returned.
