Candidates for municipal office in Pine Bluff and all other cities in Jefferson County began Friday and will continue through Aug. 17 at the Jefferson County Clerk's Office.

Candidates for municipal office in Pine Bluff and all other cities in Jefferson County began Friday and will continue through Aug. 17 at the Jefferson County Clerk’s Office.

According to a list provided by the clerk’s office, the positions open in Pine Bluff include mayor, city clerk and treasurer. All three of those positions are held by incumbents who are completing four-year terms: Mayor Carl A. Redus Jr., City Clerk Loretta Whitfield and City Treasurer Chris Castoro.

The terms of four of the city’s eight aldermen expire this year. They are Ward 1 Alderman Irene Holcomb, Ward 2 Alderman Charles Boyd Jr., Ward 3 Alderman Glen Brown Sr. and Ward 4 Alderman George Stepps.

At Altheimer, the term of Mayor Donald “Bruce” Robinson will not expire until 2014, but the terms of all the city’s aldermen and recorder/treasurer will expire at the end of this year.

Alderman currently serving in Altheimer are Calvin E. Robinson in District 1, Position 1; Linda Gipson in District 1, Position 2; Samuel Kelley in District 2, Position 1; and Lester Hudson in District 2, Position 2.

The clerk’s list showed that the recorder/treasurer’s position is vacant.

Humphrey Mayor Alice J. Black’s four-year term does not expire until 2014 but the terms of the city’s recorder/treasurer and its six aldermen all expire this year.

Robert “Robby” Blessing Jr., is currently Recorder/Treasurer, and the city’s aldermen are Melissa Robinson, District 1, Position 1; Sheri J. Flynn, District 1, Position 2; Cleveland Hatch, District 2, Position 1; Joseph D. McNeil, District 2, Position 2; Tim Bogy, District 3, Position 1; and Deward Barnes Jr., District 3, Position 2.

At Sherill, the terms of Aldermen Lucille Hawkins, Position 1; James Robinson, Position 2; Anita V. Mitchell, Position 3; Joy L. Binns, Position 4; Christine E. Blair, Position 5; and Joy Binns, at large, all expire at the end of the year, as does the term of Recorder/Treasurer Mauricene Blackwell. Mayor Jody Campbell’s term expires in 2014.

Redfield Mayor Tony Brian Lawhon will serve until 2014 but the terms of the city clerk and the city’s six aldermen expire this year.

Rita Jackson is serving as City Clerk at Redfield. The current aldermen are Danny Dial***, District 1, Position 1; John H. Jones, District 1, Position 2; Brenda Carmical, District 2, Position 1; Sandra Garrett, District 2, Position 2; Barbara Werner, District 3, Position 1; and Darrell Hedden, District 3, Position 2.

At Wabbaseka, Mayor Myra T. Edwards’ term expires in 2014 while the terms of the city’s recorder/treasurer and alderman all expire at the end of this year.

Judy A. Harden is listed as recorder/treasurer while the city’s aldermen are listed as Robert L. White Sr., Position 1; Geary D. Robinson, Position 2; Theresa Aloan, Position 3; Curtis R. Goodloe, Position 4; and Commeka Goodloe, Position 5.

White Hall Mayor Noel Foster is in the middle of his four-year term and is not up for re-election but the terms of the city’s six alderman all expire at the end of this year.

Currently, Andrew Lunsford is serving in District 1, Position 1; Ken Smith in District 1, Position 2; Scott Ray in District 2, Position 1; Ed May in District 2, Position 2; David E. Beck, District 3, Position 1; and Joel Foster, District 3, Position 2.

The deadline for filing will be noon on Aug. 17.
