A revision to the dress code for Pine Bluff High School students will take effect as of the first day of the spring semester, on Jan. 3.

The dress code has been changed to forbid the wearing of tight fitting pants known as jeggings or leggins by girls or boys.

“The following items are not allowed as a part of Pine Bluff High School’s Uniform Policy: Jeggings, Black Denim, Leggins, Warm-Ups (fleece or any kind) and Spandex,” said the text of the new Pine Bluff High School handbook entry.

The Pine Bluff School Board approved the rule change at the request of high school principal Robert Handley during its Dec. 20 regular monthly meeting.

“Some of them are wearing this real tight stuff that doesn’t leave anything to the imagination,” Handley told the board.

Handley said that the high school would be sending a copy of the amended policy home with each student on Jan. 3, 2012.
