The Pine Bluff Wastewater Utility Commission approved an employee wellness program at its monthly meeting Monday.

“We have set it up for the benefit of our employees to ensure we have a healthier workforce, keeping them physically fit so they can do the best job they can do,” PBWU Manager Ken Johnson said, thanking the commission for their support of the initiative.

Johnson said the program is similar to others being enacted at entities across the state to put a greater emphasis on employee wellness and the prevention of chronic illnesses.

In other business, the commission heard the October financial report from Johnson. Income was $514,389.

Johnson plans to present his proposed 2012 budget at the next commission meeting, scheduled for Monday, Dec. 28.

A benefit fair for PBWU employees will be held Dec. 6 at the department’s headquarters 1520 S. Ohio St.
