FORDYCE Central Arkansas Development Council recognized the contributions of its free tax program volunteers and partners on Monday at the Fordyce Civic Center.

CADC recognized Nora Harris and Janice Rayford, who contributed over 100 hours to the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, which serves low to moderate income families with free electronic filing of their tax returns. The site was hosted at the Fordyce Civic Center, which provided space and support for the free service.

Volunteers at the Fordyce Civic Center assisted 34 low to moderate income families in Dallas County with free tax counseling. Sixteen families received over $20,800 in Earned Income Tax Credit, averaging $1305 each. The average child tax credit per household was $1,553. The total federal refund amount returned to the community was more than $38,300.
