James Matthews Elementary School hosted its second annual science fair May 3. Thirty-six first graders entered projects and the school entered three projects in the third annual Regional Science Fair at Arkansas River Education Service Cooperative.

James Matthews Elementary School hosted its second annual science fair May 3. Thirty-six first graders entered projects and the school entered three projects in the third annual Regional Science Fair at Arkansas River Education Service Cooperative.

In the regional science fair, James Matthews first grade student, Kevon White placed 1st place in the K-2 grades group. He was awarded a $50 cash award and trophy for his project on “Making Water Clean.” Other winning contestants were Detayjah Foots’ “Sink or Float” project and Alexandria Moore’s “Magnet Powered Truck.”

Teachers of the winning students were treated to a luncheon. They were Aranita Davis, Haiti Pierce and Andrew Roshell.
