The Downtown Special Events Organization will present the Sweet Sounds of Downtown music festival Saturday beginning with with a parade at 10 a.m. at 11th Avenue and Main Street.

The Downtown Special Events Organization will present the Sweet Sounds of Downtown music festival Saturday beginning with with a parade at 10 a.m. at 11th Avenue and Main Street.

The free festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Main Street (with Second and Third avenues blocked off), a spokesman said.

“We are expecting to attract over 1,000 attendees from Pine Bluff and surrounding communities to shop, eat, network, enjoy the festivities, and learn about what Pine Bluff has to offer,” Pat Hopkins, a member of Downtown Special Events Organization and president/CEO of The Planning Connection, said in a news release on Stuff in the Bluff website.

Musical performances will include Gary Wilson & The Untouchables, Los Parienties (Mariachi band) and Blue Thirds and a variety of groups, bands and choirs.

The performances will follow the parade in a roped-off section located at Second Avenue and Main Street.

The event is free and residents are asked to bring their own lawn chairs. Also, free back-to-school kits will be available for teachers and students.

Interested vendors may sign up now for booth space. Vendors are asked to come out as early as possible to set up their 10 x 10 booth space. Bring your tent, chairs and tables and sell items from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
