WCHS grad receives doctorate

Reina C. Engle-Stone, a 2001 graduate of Watson Chapel High School and 2005 graduate of Cornell University, has earned a Ph.D. in nutritional biology from the University of California-Davis.

Her dissertation was “A National Survey of Micronutrient Status and Consumption of Potentially Fortifiable Foods among Women and Young Children in Cameroon.”

Engle-Stone was also the receipient of the 2012 Marie Weldon Taubeneck Research Award for excellence in the field of pregnancy and early childhood nutrition for her an article.

Prior to entering graduate school, Engle-Stone served as an AmeriCorps health educator in Chicago’s west side.

She is the daughter of Carole Engle and Nathan Stone of Pine Bluff.
