The Dollarway School District Board of Directors unanimously approved a recommendation from district superintendent Bettye Dunn-Wright to accept the resignation of district athletic director Fuller Cherry at a special called meeting Monday night.

The Dollarway School District Board of Directors unanimously approved a recommendation from district superintendent Bettye Dunn-Wright to accept the resignation of district athletic director Fuller Cherry at a special called meeting Monday night.

“I have received a letter of resignation from athletic director Fuller Cherry effective immediately,” Dunn-Wright said to the board after an executive session of one hour and twenty minutes. “I recommend that the board accept the resignation.”

In other business, the board unanimously approved a motion from board member Gene Stewart to extend Dunn-Wright’s contract by one year.

“I move that the superintendent’s contract be extended by one year,” Stewart said. “That should carry it through 2014.”
