Dr. Herman Ginger of Pine Bluff has announced his intention to seek re-election to District 6 of the Jefferson County Quorum Court.

Dr. Herman Ginger of Pine Bluff has announced his intention to seek re-election to District 6 of the Jefferson County Quorum Court.

A native of Jefferson County, Ginger is an optometrist and has practiced in Pine Bluff for 40 years. He is running as a Democrat.

He is a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Monticello and earned a Doctor of Optometry Degree from Southern College of Optometry at Memphis.

During his terms on the Quorum Court, Ginger has served on the Finance Committee, Community Development and Grants Committee and Solid Waste-Recycling Committee. He is currently chairman of the Public Safety/Emergency Services Committee.

Ginger is chairman of the board for the Highway 63 Volunteer Fire Department.

Ginger has been a member of the Arkansas Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association for more than 40 years. He served as president of the Arkansas Association and is on the National Committee Structure of the American Optometric Association. He is also on the Southwest Council of Optometry Board of Directors, serving as exhibit hall chairman, past president and treasurer.

He and his wife Suzanne have one daughter and one granddaughter.
