Police arrested three men on drug related charges during a search for a suspect who reportedly stole a weapon early Sunday morning .

Derek Gibson, 25, Edwin Foots, 27, and Ricky Curry, 23, were all taken into custody after they were found in an apartment in the 1600 block of Linden Street just after 1 a.m.

During a court hearing Tuesday, Deputy Prosecutor Maxie Kizer said police were searching for a man who had fled from them on a bicycle, and during the search, saw a person they believed to be the suspect enter the apartment.

Vice and Narcotics Detective Jack Hendon reported that police entered the apartment and found a large bag containing marijuana under a mattress along with $320 cash.

Kizer said officers found PCP in the kitchen of the apartment, along with a loaded .38-caliber pistol. In another room, they found a bag containing cocaine and 11 individually wrapped bags of marijuana.

Field tests were positive for the drugs found, police said.

At Kizerís request, Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set bond for Curry and Gibson at $50,000 cash only each, and set bond for Foots at $25,000 unsecured.

Kizer requested the cash only bonds for Curry and Gibson because both have prior felony convictions, with Gibson being on parole and Curry on probation.

All three men said they would hire their own attorneys and were told to come back to court July 24.
