An investigation into a reported hit-and-run accident Saturday night resulted in the arrest of Pine Bluff man on drug-related charges.

Donmarcus Denton, 32, allegedly dropped a bag containing ecstasy pills while being questioned by police, Deputy Prosecutor Maxie Kizer said during a court hearing Monday.

Vice and Narcotics Detective Kenneth Evans reported that police were looking for Denton after he was identified as the person who left the scene of an accident earlier in the evening at Mosley and Spears streets in the Dollarway area.

Police reported seeing Denton walk across the parking lot of a business at Dollarway Road and Bryant Street. When they went to place him under arrest, Denton reportedly dropped small bag containing several multicolored pills, which field tested positive for ecstasy.

Kizer said Denton has a prior felony conviction.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $10,000 bond for Denton after ruling prosecutors had probable cause to charge him with possession of a controlled substance.

Kearney appointed the Public Defenderís Office to represent Denton and told him to come back to court at 9 a.m. April 23.
