A reported domestic disturbance in the Dollarway area Tuesday resulted in the arrest of a woman who allegedly injured her 78-year-old grandmother.

Because of the age of the victim, Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth ruled prosecutors had probable cause to charge Eddie Jean Lee, 30, with second-degree domestic battery.

Deputy Prosecutor Maxie Kizer said police were initially sent to a house in the 600 block of Cobb Street after Lee and a male cousin reportedly got into an altercation, but the male was gone when officers arrived.

Detective Jeremy Funderburg reported that officers were sent back later that day where the victim reported that Lee had kicked and struck her, causing visible injuries.

Kizer said Lee had swelling and bruises and told police the elderly woman “had jumped on her.”

Judge Bridgforth set a $5,000 bond for Lee, ordered her to have no contact with the alleged victim, and to come back to court July 18.
