An investigation into a reported theft from the Walmart Supercenter last week resulted in the arrest of an employee who reportedly took cash from a register where she was working.

NaKendra Martin, 23, allegedly took about $20,000 over a three-month period, Deputy Prosecutor Maxie Kizer said during a court hearing Tuesday for Martin.

Detective Jerry Lambert reported that police were sent to Walmart Friday where they met with store loss prevention officers who identified Martin as the person who had allegedly taken the money.

The thefts allegedly occurred between December 2011 and February of this year, Kizer said, and police recovered some cash from Martinís vehicle on the parking lot of the store.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $25,000 bond for Martin after ruling prosecutors had probable cause to charge her with theft of property.

Kearney appointed the Public Defenderís Office to represent Martin and told her to come back to court April 17.
