A reported disturbance at a house in central Pine Bluff Monday resulted in the arrest of a man who allegedly slapped and choked a teenage girl.

LaKeith Gordon, 33, was arrested after police saw scratches on the neck of the 12-year-old victim, Deputy Prosecutor Maxie Kizer said during a court hearing Tuesday.

The victim told police she was talking to another girl when Gordon slapped her in the face and then choked her.

Gordon reportedly told police he slapped the girl “because she wouldn’t shut up,” Detective Steven Rucker reported.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $25,000 bond for Gordon after ruling prosecutors had probable cause to charge him with second-degree domestic battery.

Kearney also ordered Gordon to have no contact with the alleged victim until the case is settled and to come back to court April 17.
