A reported disturbance at a motel on East Harding Avenue Sunday resulted in the arrest of two people after drugs and a gun were found in their room.

Stephanie Franklin, 25, and Kendrell Patterson, 25, were taken into custody at the Briarwood Inn after police received a report that Patterson had pointed a gun at another person.

Deputy Prosecutor Maxie Kizer said during a court hearing Monday officers went to the room where Patterson and Franklin were staying and found multiple bags of marijuana and a semi-automatic handgun.

Vice and Narcotics Detective Richard McCorvy reported that there were 12 bags of marijuana that weighed 41 grams and several other bags of marijuana in another location.

Kizer said officers also seized $$1,000 cash.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set a $10,000 bond for Franklin, who Kizer said had no prior convictions or pending charges, after ruling prosecutors had probable cause to charge her with possession of a controlled substance with purpose to deliver.

The judge set a $25,000 bond for Patterson, who Kizer said had a number of failures to appear in court, after ruling prosecutors had probable cause to charge him with possession of a controlled substance with purpose to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, and aggravated assault.

The Public Defenderís Office was appointed to represent Franklin and Patterson and they were told to come back to court May 7 at 9 a.m.
