LITTLE ROCK — Walmart and the Walmart Family Charitable Support Foundation have donated $1 million to the University of Arkansas to fund a display honoring Walmart founder Sam Walton, the university announced Monday.

The Bentonville-based retailer and the foundation provided $500,000 each to renovate, expand and update an existing display at the Sam. M. Walton College of Business.

“These generous gifts will allow the University of Arkansas and the Walton College to create a world-class tribute to its namesake, Mr. Sam Walton, who had a transformational impact on the business world and our university,” UA Chancellor G. David Gearhart said in a news release. “We are deeply grateful for these very significant gifts and I know our students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends will enjoy learning more about his extraordinary legacy.”
