LITTLE ROCK — A Blytheville woman is the latest person to win $1 million by playing Arkansas’ lottery.
Paulette Hodges claimed her prize Thursday, lottery officials said. She purchased her winning Mega Millions ticket at Flash Market on East Main Street in Blytheville.
Hodges’ ticket would have been worth $250,000 in the March 23 drawing, but because she purchased a multiplier for an extra $1, her prize was $1 million.
Lottery officials said Hodges told them she plans to use part of her winnings to remodel her home and will put the rest in the bank.
Manwhile, lottery spokeswoman Julie Baldridge estimated today that during the run-up to tonight’s Mega Millions drawing the state lottery has raised about $2 million for college scholarships from Mega Millions tickets alone, thanks to high interest the multi-state game’s record-high jackpot.
The jackpot was raised today from $540 million to $640 million.
