Pine Bluff police officers working off duty on the parking lot at P.J.s Nightclub early Sunday morning arrested a man after they heard him yelling at other people about having a gun.

Caderro Gibson, 25, allegedly told two other people youre not the only one with a gun, Ive got one too, Deputy Prosecutor Bryan Achorn said Monday during a court hearing for Gibson.

Detective Marcia Oliver reported that when police looked in the vehicle Gibson was driving, they saw a handgun on the floorboard and Gibson claimed the gun belonged to his wife.

Achorn said when officers ran a records check on Gibson, they found that he had a prior felony conviction in federal court and Gibson was arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm. Records available to the prosecutor did not indicate what that conviction was for, officials said.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $5,000 bond for Gibson and told him to come back to court Oct. 1.

Gibson said he would hire his own attorney.
