Terrance Williams
A man who reportedly hit a parked truck and drove away with an injured person in his car Saturday morning will have to post a $5,000 bond to be released from the county detention center while prosecutors prepare felony charges against him.
Following a court hearing Monday, Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors had probable cause to charge Terrance Williams, 21, with leaving the scene of an accident involving personal injury.
Deputy Prosecutor Maxie Kizer said Williams was driving a 2000 Dodge Neon west on 20th Avenue from Orange Street at about 6:09 a.m. when he struck a 2003 Volvo truck that was parked.
Police Traffic Sgt. David Ellington reported that a female passenger in Williams’ car was partially ejected after her head struck the windshield of the car. The woman received injuries to the face, eye cover and eye as a result of the accident.
Kizer said Williams drove the woman to an apartment complex in the 2900 block of Fir Street where he left her, then drove to his house without notifying police of the accident.
Bridgforth told Williams, who said he would represent himself, to come back to court April 2 at 9 a.m.
