A reported disturbance at a house in the Shady Grove area Tuesday night sent one man to the hospital where he is listed in “very guarded condition,” according to a police affidavit.
Montez Phillips, 26, is in the intensive care unit of a Little Rock hospital where he was taken by ambulance after being treated initially at Jefferson Regional Medical Center by ambulance.
Nicholas Bush, 25, allegedly “jumped on” Phillips and beat and kicked him while he was on the ground, Detective Steve Rucker said in a probable cause affidavit.
The incident was reported at 3311 Lilac St., and started in a disagreement over money, Rucker said in the affidavit.
In a court hearing Thursday, Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set a $50,000 bond for Bush after ruling that prosecutors had probable cause to charge him with first-degree battery.
Bush also was ordered to have no contact with Phillips until the case is settled.
