One person has died as a result of a hit-and-run accident Friday night in Pine Bluff and police are asking the public for help locating the driver and the vehicle, which they have determined to be a black Nissan SUV.

Police Capt. Greg Shapiro said that Jonathan Haney, 20, died at 1 a.m. Monday at UAMS in Little Rock as the result of injuries received in the accident at about 11:56 p.m. Friday.

Haney and Erick Green, 19, were walking east in the area of 6th Avenue and Young Street when they were struck by a black Nissan SUV that fled the scene.

Green sustained what were described as non-life threatening injures and was treated and released by Jefferson Regional Medical Center.

Haney was taken to JRMC, then to the Little Rock hospital.

We need anyone that knows a person that was operating a black Nissan SUV on Friday night in Pine Bluff to contact us if that black SUV now has damage or parts missing from it which were not noticed Friday night, Shapiro said. We need the driver to come forward immediately.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police Detective Division at 730-2090. All calls will be kept confidential and a cash reward of up to $1,000 is available for information leading to the identification and arrest of the person or persons involved.
