A Pine Bluff man was killed in a one-vehicle accident on U.S. 65 South late Friday night.

A Pine Bluff man was killed in a one-vehicle accident on U.S. 65 South late Friday night.

Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelley said Bobby J. Lewis, 32, was pronounced dead in the Emergency Room at Jefferson Regional Medical Center at 12:42 a.m. Saturday. The cause of death was listed as multiple blunt force trauma.

State Police Cpl. Jeff Preston reported that Lewis was southbound when the 1998 Chevrolet he was driving left the roadway and went into a ditch on the west side of the highway, hit a fence, then spun around in the ditch and came to rest facing north on the west side of the highway.

The accident was reported at 11:30 p.m., and Preston reported that the weather was clear and the roadway dry at the time of the accident.

According to the preliminary report, Lewis was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

The death was the 309th reported so far this year on the state’s highways.
