A Jefferson County man was arrested Monday after sheriff’s deputies allegedly saw him towing a car that had been reported stolen earlier in the month.
Steve Saucier, 36, who is on felony probation, was taken into custody after deputies reported seeing him driving a pickup truck towing a trailer that had a Honda Civic on it, Deputy Prosecutor Maxie Kizer said during a court hearing for Saucier on Wednesday.
Kizer said the vehicle had been reported stolen April 19 in Pine Bluff, and was valued at $4,500.
When Saucier was questioned, he allegedly said he had borrowed the truck from a family member and was taking the car to an auto salvage yard.
Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set a $10,000 bond for Saucier after ruling that prosecutors had probable cause to charge him with theft by receiving.
The Public Defender’s Office was appointed to represent Saucier, and he was told to come back to court June 12.
