A reported burglary in progress Tuesday night at an apartment on the west side of Pine Bluff resulted in the arrest of two men.

Deputy Prosecutor Maxie Kizer said Cedric Pitts, 31, and Nekia French, 34, were taken into custody after police were sent to 4504 W. 27th Ave. and found the door to apartment four damaged.

Detective Billy Dixon reported that officers found Pitts and French walking down the hallway of the building near apartment four. Police found a pair of white gloves, a screwdriver and a Kodak camera in the path the men were seen walking in. The apartment resident identified the camera as belonging to her.

Kizer said both Pitts and French had extensive criminal records, and both had felony charges pending in Jefferson County Circuit Court.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $50,000 bond for both Pitts and French after ruling prosecutors had probable cause to charge them with residential burglary, theft of property and criminal mischief.

Kearney told Pitts and French to come back to court at 9 a .m. March 28.
